Developing Critical Thinking (Bialystok, Poland)

The Modern Didactics Center, in cooperation with the Teachers Educational Centre from Bialystok (Poland), started the project "Developing Critical Thinking." The project is for educators working in different types of educational institutions and subject areas, who are willing to improve their professional qualifications and present modern teaching methods in their classrooms. The first seminar, "The Framework of Critical Thinking: Methods of Promoting Critical Thinking," was Feb. 25-27, 2005. The second one, "Promoting Critical Thinking: Reading, Writing and Discussions in Every Discipline," was May 14-16, 2005, in Bialystok. Thirty-nine teachers from the regions of Bialystok, Lodz, Warsaw, and other cities were present.

Trainers are Grazina Siwicka, deputy director of the A.Mickevicius gymnasium, teacher-expert, and Daiva Penkauskiene, director of the Modern Didactics Center. The project is a part of RWCT International Consortium activities, supported by the Open Society Institute, New York.
