Members of RWCT IC shall be defined to be individuals or non-governmental, not-for-profit organizations, or educational institutions legally established, who join the association, recognize its statutes and accept to respect them, fulfilling their responsibilities deriving thereof.
Membership is granted by the Board of Directors (BD), who approve the application submitted by the individual or institution seeking membership.
A legal body seeking membership may be granted membership if it meets the following requirements:
- support the goals and objectives of RWCT IC;

- promise to adhere to these Statutes and the decisions of the Board of Directors.
The Board of Directors may at any time decide to create new types of membership by a simple majority vote.
Each member that is a legal entity must be established in accordance with the laws and customs of its respective country of origin, and be governed by principles of democracy and equal opportunity.
Each member that is a legal entity shall designate one person as its representative to act on its behalf in connection with RWCT IC matters, including, but not limited to, participating and voting at meetings of the General Assembly, and may designate an alternative representative, who will act in the representative’s absence. Each member shall be entitled to replace said representative or alternate at its sole discretion by written notification to the Board of Directors of RWCT IC.
Decisions concerning the admission of new members shall be taken by the Board of Directors, in accordance with such procedures as the Board may enact in Statutes. The aforesaid decisions shall be taken by majority vote of the Board of Directors.
Membership shall be terminated at any time:
- upon a member’s resignation or dissolution;
- upon a decision taken by the General Assembly by a two-thirds majority if
- the member does not fulfill its obligations towards RWCT IC;
- the member’s activities interfere with the achievement of the aims of RWCT IC;
- the member has caused detriment to RWCT IC.
Regaining membership can be decided by the General Assembly provided the conditions that led to losing membership have been removed and there are solid guarantees that they would not occur in the future.
RWCT IC members have the following rights:
- the right to vote and to be elected in any position in RWCT IC, provided the individual or the representative is at least 18 years of age;
- the right to elect and to be elected in the various governance structures of RWCT IC;
- the right to vote in the meetings of the General Assembly of RWCT IC;
- the right to have priority in the services provided by RWCT IC;
- the right to participate in the activities organized by RWCT IC;
- the right to freely renounce RWCT IC membership;
- the right to benefit from other benefits resulting from RWCT IC
RWCT IC members have the following responsibilities:
- respect the Statutes, the Internal Regulations, the decisions of the General Assembly and of the Board of Directors;
- actively participate in the achievement of the goals and objectives of RWCT IC;
- pay their annual membership dues to RWCT IC, the amount of which shall be determined by the Board of Directors in accordance with the Internal Regulations of RWCT IC;
- protect the interests of RWCT IC and in case of damage done to it, repair that damage;
- regularly inform RWCT IC about its important projects and activities
- inform RWCT IC about changes in their contact information.
About membership:
Consortium has two types of membership (for institutions and for individuals). There are two types of individual membership:
- for developed countries
- for countries with developing economies
Membership fees:
- for individual members $70 (50 EURO) per year. It includes old issues of Thinking Classroom on-line and current subscription for on-line and paper versions. Without the paper version - $50 per year
- for individual members from developing countries $30 per year (without paper version - $25 per year).
- for institutions $180 per year (120 EURO)
What is included in the membership:
- TC\P on-line version and all TC\P archives (10% discount)
- TC\P paper version (for individuals) (10% discount)
- the right to subscribe 3 schools or school libraries or orphanages to on-line version of TC\P
- access to all Consortium publications
- discount on General Assembly meetings (expenses will be partly covered)
- discount on participation in International certification (expenses connected with certification of prospective certifiers will be partly covered)
- the right to use “Teaching and Learning Strategies for the Thinking Classroom” in educational workshops
- the right to organize RWCT certification in countries
- the right to get all information about Consortium activities and to participate in these activities as partners and members of the Consortium projects
- the right to receive all project materials
- travel support (max. 50% of conference participation expenses, not to exceed 500 USD, to represent Consortium at important international events – see procedure)
What obligations any Ñonsortium member has:
- to inform all Consortium members about significant national and international events (using on-line special form on the website) every year (calendar)
- to update the list of certified trainers and certifiers annually
- to send information materials for the website
- to put the Consortium’s banner on in-country websites
