The association “Reading and Writing for Critical Thinking International Consortium” is a non-governmental, non-political, independent organization.
Mission of RWCT International Consortium
The RWCT International Consortium aims to become a significant trans-national teachers’ organization that promotes critical thinking and active learning as means of achieving quality education all over the world.
Goals and objectives
The goals and objectives of RWCT IC are educational and include, but are not limited to:
- promoting the values of open, democratic society through quality education for all;
- supporting educators to become promoters of critical thinking, active and cooperative learning;
- promoting lifelong learning and professional growth.
In pursuit of these goals and objectives, RWCT IC may:
- conduct, operate, coordinate, participate in, and support programs and activities that promote educational reform and community development, advance the collective common goals and objectives of its members, by enhancing donor potential for, increasing collective credibility of, and improving the efficiency of programs and activities conducted and operated by RWCT IC members.
- conduct, operate, coordinate, participate in, as well as support other programs and activities as the Board of Directors may, in its sole discretion, deem constructive and appropriate in furtherance of the goals and objectives of RWCT IC.
- In furtherance of the foregoing goals and objectives, RWCT IC may provide financial, material, and other support to physical persons and legal entities, or subdivisions thereof, carrying out programs and activities that further the goals and objectives of RWCT IC, and may join other international organizations.
The registered office of RWCT is located at 6 Luceafarului Street, Cluj-Napoca, Romania.
RWCT International Consortium provides:
- International Network including member organizations from over 30 countries worldwide
- Support for schools, universities, and NGOs in promoting democratic reforms through educational projects
- Seminars and workshops worldwide tailored to the needs of local teachers and educational institutions
- Scholarly, research and educational potential and expertise of the RWCT trainers
- International Teacher Standards and Certification
- Professional publications in English, Russian and national languages for educators of all levels
- International peer-reviewed bilingual quarterly journal for educators on critical and creative thinking and active learning (Thinking Classroom/Peremena)
